So long Fallon. Fallon is known for super gross/dangerous tap water.
There's an Airforce station outside of Fallon so jets (not pictured) are taking off all the time.
The Salt Wells are a few miles away.
For miles straight folks spell their names (or something else) with rocks in the Salt Wells in a ditch that follows the highway.
What's that called you ask? Why, that's Sand Mtn! People are racing dune buggies up and down.
Shortly after this my camera ran out of batteries. Darn.
I reach Middlegate in decent time. I decide to push 11 miles for Cold Springs to shave some miles off of tomorrow's ride. The next eleven miles is tough! A steady incline and a slight headwind give me a moderate case of the I-don't-wanna-any-mores. These desert basins are incredible! Besides being surprisingly colorful, judging grade and distance is really strange. Sometimes I cannot tell if I'm traveling up, down or level! I think seeing the road way ahead on the horizon is a big part of the illusion
Reach Cold Springs and the ol' battery is back in action!
